Our Verita School board of trustees is responsible for student achievement and well-being, for ensuring effective stewardship of the school’s resources and for delivering effective and appropriate education programs for Verita students. The Verita Board and school authorities have the responsibilities that key governance role with respect to:

  • Operating Verita School according to local laws and international certifications by COBIS;
  • Ensuring the Verita philosophy and vision are being implemented in all areas within the school;
  • Setting the School’s budget and accompanying regulations;
  • Implementing the National Curriculum of England/Wales according to the highest level of standards and with the assistance/guidance of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS);
  • Providing for the hiring of teachers and other staff required in the school;
  • Maintaining school buildings and property with regard to student safety and in accordance with Romanian legislation;
  • Monitoring the policies of the schools and the achievement of students and, through the director of education, holding the entire system accountable for delivering the highest academic standards.

Mark Wolper, Chairman of the Board
An American, born and raised in Los Angeles, is an expert in both private and public school education through management of 3 schools. He served as the Chairman of the Board of a Charter school in Los Angeles that caters to middle class families from kindergarten through 8th grade. He also served as the head of Academic Policies for Hesby Oaks School in California. Previously he also served on the Board of The Country School a legacy school for Kids with special, needs that has been in existence for over 60 years.
Leslie Anne, Member of the Board
An American, born and raised in New York city, who graduated from the American College of Switzerland in Leysin and received from the University of Adelaide a graduate degree in Education. She has worked for over six years, as an English Teacher at the Greenhill International School of Athens, Greece.
Richard Joannides, The Founder and President of the Board
He is a successful American-Greek entrepreneur that has built from the ground up, a group of companies over the past 15 years. He has studied at Oxford University in the UK and graduated from Loyola Marymount University – Los Angeles, California with a degree in Early Childhood Education. He has been passionate about children his entire life.  He is a father of two boys and has been working for the last three years as a teacher and play therapist with young children diagnosed as having cancer at the Fundeni Hospital. He has over 7 years of experience with Mindfulness Parenting and Mindfulness teaching and has traveled the world to attend many courses, retreats and workshops in America, Europe and Asia, led by such imminent Mindfulness teachers as Jack Kornfield, John Kabat-Zinn and Susan Kaiser.
